- Secretly developed by the US Air Force, the F-117 is an aircraft with the ability to make infrared and radar detection difficult.
- Its development dates back to the stealth research machine `HaveBlue` that first flew in 1977.
-The two research aircraft were produced under strict secrecy for practical use, and as a result of repeated flight tests, the Air Force placed an order for a full scale development aircraft in November 1978 and mass-produced it in 1982. Delivery of the aircraft F-117A has begun.
- The shape of the fuselage is composed of a complex plane to diffusely reflect radar waves, and for infrared rays, the exhaust nozzles are elongated in the lateral direction to lower the exhaust temperature by the outside air.
- The F-117A was originally developed as a fighter, but without anti-aircraft capabilities, was used for ground-attack missions and became famous for pinpoint bombing during the Gulf War in 1991, but its first mission was in 1989. It was the attack on Panama in 2004.
