Hans-Joachim Marseille was a German pilot who distinguished himself on the African front during World War II.
He recorded a total of 158 kills and was nicknamed "The Star of Africa."
He once shot down 17 aircraft in a single day, eight of which were downed in just 10 minutes. In recognition of this, he was presented with a Kübelwagen painted with "OTTO" (Italian for [8]) by a squadron of the Royal Italian Air Force.
